Actors Sacrifice Life For An Action Movie

On Behalf of | Feb 9, 2019 | Wrongful Death

California is known for its awesome Hollywood movies. All the action scenes we see are not real actors. The life of the stunt double is one that is of silent respect. They don’t get the recognition that they deserve. Famous actors like Angelina Jolie, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Cameron Diaz, and Brad Pitt have stunt doubles that do all the action scenes that have you on the edge of your seat. What you don’t hear about stunt doubles is the life of the threatening risk they take on every day for the thrill of an audience.

Stunt doubles are what make the movie yet no one really gets the recognition. California is near the largest movie-making industry. Therefore, it is of no surprise that our professional attorneys at Licata & Yeremenko, A Professional Law Corporation in California work with those in the film industry. The Tragic Stunt Double Story

Action movies are huge crowd-pleasers. People love to see things explode while people run towards or away from them. People like to see near-death experiences and the stunt doubles are there to provide that thrill. However, that thrill can come at a cost if the proper standard of care is not taken. Unfortunately, there is no room for error or negligence when it comes to these big stunts. This was not the case for a series of people who were killed on set for a military-themed movie for the Discovery Channel.

Originally a wrongful death suit was filed for the three people who were killed in a helicopter accident. The families are suing the owner of the helicopter, the pilot, and the producers of the movie for negligence. However, another wrongful death suit was filed for the same incident. These wrongful death suits are to protect the family of the ones who died by seeking justice to get the financial compensation to cover costs such as funeral expenses, medical expenses, loss of wages, and loss of companionship.
